Horror comedies can be divisive, but I personally fall into the pro camp. In my humble opinion, the line between horror and comedy is so thin because you’re trying to evoke big emotions with both. That’s why comedians tend to make such excellent horror directions.
Plus, y’know, my sense of humor sometimes skews a little dark anyway, so it’s not a big reach for me. I digress.
It was REALLY hard to cut this list down to five…so I didn’t. Instead, you’re getting 10, and, tbh, it was even hard getting us here. But, for the sake of time (and my sanity) I had to stop somewhere.
Without further ado, here are 10 of my favorite horror comedies (and much love to those that I had to cut):
- Tucker and Dale vs Evil
- Happy Death Day
- The Babysitter
- Idle Hands
- Shaun of the Dead
- Lisa Frankenstein
- Cabin in the Woods
- Dead Alive (aka Braindead)
- Slither
- Jennifer’s Body
