31 Day Horror Challenge: 21. Anthology – V/H/S/94

V/H/S and V/H/S/2 took the horror community by storm… and then came V/H/S Viral, where we all felt betrayed. (If you haven’t seen it, don’t). We thought the franchise was dead in the water. We thought our beloved V/H/S movies would stop there. Then, the announcement came for V/H/S/94, and I was terrified. V/H/S Viral was so bad that I thought they couldn’t recapture what had been lost. Fortunately for us, I was DEAD wrong.

V/H/S/94 nestles itself perfectly into the world established by its predecessors (again, not V/H/S Viral), and I’d honestly love a full movie based off “The Subject.” It also paved the way for V/H/S/99, AND we have a new V/H/S coming next year as well in V/H/S/85.

V/H/S/94 is one of those anthologies I can watch repeatedly and not get bored. All of its segments could be released as standalone (seriously, this is becoming my new catchphrase) shorts, and they wouldn’t depreciate; their value isn’t tethered to the V/H/S name. Each segment is strong enough to be separated from pack, but they still work beautifully together.

Basically, you should go watch V/H/S/94 right now.

Hail Raatma!
