31 Day Horror Challenge: 16. Italian Horror – Demons

I’ve become a big fan of giallo horror and, Italian horror in general, thanks to Joe Bob Briggs. The Last Drive-In covered Demons during its first season (before we all knew that we’d get more seasons and all cried with Joe Bob when we thought he signed off for the last time). And, I immediately fell in love with it.

Demons is absolutely bonkers, and not only is it my favorite Italian horror movie, but it’s one of my favorite horror movies of all time. The soundtrack is incredible, the storyline is unhinged, and the ending absolutely kills me every single time. Plus, there’s an actual scene where a helicopter crashes through a roof.

To me, it watches like Lamberto Bava is riffing on 80s American horror and is throwing in all the tropes imaginable. Again, a helicopter crashes through the roof. If you can think of a better example of something out of 80s American cinema, let me know.

It’s a must see for horror fans, and for those who’ve seen it, this is your sign to watch Demons again.
