What are your views on Tinder and other dating apps?
I think they’re great if you go into them with the right attitude. When it comes down to it, it’s just another way to meet people, no matter if you’re in a bar or online, you’re just talking to someone new.
What was the best date you ever had?
It was with my current boyfriend. We drove to Dallas to see my favorite hockey team, the Dallas Stars, play. I loved the high energy everywhere and I hadn’t gone to see a hockey game since I was a kid. I got to eat cotton candy and drank soda for dinner. After the game we drove back to Austin and listened to the best classic rock station along the way. Then we picked up P Terry’s burgers and fries as a late night snack.
What was the worst date you ever had?
It was a double date my friend begged me to go on. The guy was just really awkward and we had nothing in common at all. On top of it he had the thickest Russian accent which resulted in many strange pauses with me trying to figure out what he said in the little conversation we did have.
What goes through your head when you first realize you have feelings for someone?
Any rational thought goes out the door. It’s mostly the thought of how can I spend more time with this person?
What is the first trait that attracts you to someone?
Both their humor and the way they command the room. I love when a guy is comfortable and outgoing with his own personality. I met my current boyfriend because he was singing at the top of his lungs in the kitchen we both worked at. Not a care in the world about what anyone else thought, just being his weird self.
How would you describe heart break?
Like if you had the wind knocked out of you and your heart hit your feet. Then mix that with some feelings of desperation and emptiness.
What is your break up routine?
Ice cream, terrible Youtube videos, and lots of lying in a bed filled with cushy pillows.
Have you ever been in love?
I’m lucky to have met the love of my life at such a young age. The person who came into my life suddenly and now who I cannot imagine a life without.
Do you think it’s possible to love two people at the same time?
There are so many different types of love but when it comes to romantic love, no, I don’t think you can love two people at one. If you loved the first person, truly and deeply, then you would have never fallen in love with the second.
What does love mean to you?
Love isn’t about the grand gestures (although sometimes they are lovely). It’s about the little things. Laughing at stupid inside jokes, dancing together in the kitchen like maniacs, and building forts out of sheets. And knowing that they will always be there through all of it.
What advice do you have for someone who has never been in love?
Never chase someone for their love, attention, or affection. If it isn’t given freely by another person, it is not worth having.
