Summer (Body) Lovin’

With every waking moment, I’m becoming more and more comfortable with my body. However, summer can be a challenging time for body acceptance. We’re surrounded by these images of the perfect beach body (sidebar: I’m not condemning those with the perfect beach body. Everyone is beautiful and flawed but not every person looks like they could be a summer party extra on an early 2000s teen drama, and both ways are totally perfect!). It makes you question your own body.  That’s why I’m making a pledge to try all of the things I thought I couldn’t wear. All the things I thought I wasn’t skinny enough or pretty enough for. All of the things I thought exacerbated the parts of my body I’m still learning to love. Well no more. Thus, for your reading pleasure, I have compiled a list of all of the things I”m no longer afraid of wearing in the hopes to inspire everyone else to stop caring about whether or not someone is whispering to their friend about something you have on while walking by. I’m done pulling shorts down, choosing billowy tops, and wearing t-shirts because I’m too afraid of showing my arms. My goal is to inspire you to do the same. Here goes.

I will wear crop tops.
I will wear tank tops.
I will wear high-waisted denim shorts with shirts tucked in and not worry about the way my thighs look.
I will cut my hair into a short pixie cut and not worry about my face looking round.
I will wear rompers without cardigans and not worry about the rolls of my stomach being exposed to the world.
I will wear wedges at 5’10’ and not worry about being the tallest person in the room.
I will get my septum pierced.
I will get more tattoos.
I will wear dresses with open backs.
I will wear sleeveless dresses.
I will wear halter tops.
I will wear body glitter.
I will wear whatever I fucking want.

And you should too.
